Mike Thaler and his wife The students read the biography of Mike Thaler. They were amazed that he had written over 220 books. Our classroom is full of the Black Lagoon series which the children just love!!!! After reading about the author. We did an author study by reading and studying his books. We read the books and discussed Fiction Elements (characters, setting, problem, solution, and conclusion). Then we compared the characters.
Our school had its second annual Pumpkin Disguise Contest this year. Each classroom chose a book and created the pumpkin to match a character. As a 3rd grade group, we chose to duplicate the Black Lagoon characters. Our class chose, The computer Teacher from the Black Lagoon. The students worked hard as we recreated the character.
